All middle schools and most K-8 schools offer some type of World Language program. 一些学校提供六年级的探索班，让学生有机会花时间学习不同的语言. All middle schools offer one year of world language (for high school credit). All high schools offer a World Language program. Most high schools offer an option of a different languages to study. 华盛顿特区和华盛顿州对学生在高中学习世界语言的目标是毕业前至少修满两个学分. World Language Standards and Learning Targets

World Language Credit Testing

Alternative and Online Learning

出于各种原因，学生和家庭可能正在寻找学习世界语言的替代途径, including lack of space in current world language courses at the student’s high school, interest in studying a language not offered at the high school, need for flexibility in the student’s school schedule, 和其他人. 国家公共教育监督办公室提供了一个在线学习指南，通过新的 Alternative Learning Department.
